Reclaimed Wood Beams
Salvaging beams and timbers from old barn structures and industrial sites has become a very distinct way to bring a large part of the past into your home. These beams are carefully salvaged, denailed, cleaned, and stacked for air drying. Whether the decorating style is contemporary or rustic, these beams will add life, character, and a conversation peace to your home. There are three distinct styles of these beams:
Hand Hewn Beams: These beams reveal the original handwork that was left when pioneers and farmers used a Foot Adze to cut down round trees into square structural beams.
Rough Sawn Beams: These beams are generally found in Industrial Sites, where sawmills were used for the construction of the buildings, the original saw marks are left in the beams to show the patina and character of the beam.
Resawn Beams: Generally a rough sawn beam can be re-milled to give the face of the beam a smooth surface, evidence of "previous life" remains, but some patina is lost with cutting the outer skin away.
